Permanent
makeup is basically tattooing cosmetics and sometimes referred
to as micropigmentation or intradermal cosmetics. Like tattooing,
permanent makeup involves implanting colored pigments into the
upper layers of the skin. Various methods are employed to implant
the color. At Mary’s we use the traditional hand method
and gentle small machines to perform the various permanent makeup applications.
Applying permanent cosmetics takes varying
amounts of time depending on the procedure requested. Generally,
I explain the whole process step by step, working with the client
on selecting the appropriate colors, for eyebrow shaping or
lip lining to accentuate the client's facial features. Once
the topical anesthetic is applied and I allow 30 minutes before
implanting the permanent cosmetics. The actual implantation
of the color itself will take 30 to 60 minutes.
Wouldn't it be wonderful not to have to worry about whether your eyeliner has smeared during the course of the day? Or to wake-up with already perfect eyebrows? With permanent make-up, your make-up can be perfect 24 hours a day -- even when you sleep or swim!!
Permanent make-up techniques were first developed in the Orient many, many years ago. The processes have been modernized and improved over the years and can now be used to add eyeliner, lipliner, lip coloring, cheek coloring and beauty marks to the skin -- permanently! In addition, permanent make-up has proven highly effective in camouflaging scars and other discolorations of the skin.
These benefits of permanent make-up are being enjoyed by an increasing number of men (yes!) and women who want to enhance their appearance without the effort and inconvenience of applying conventional make-up. Other men and women choose permanent make-up to avoid the allergic reactions they have (for example: red, itchy eyes) from the use of daily cosmetics. Still others simply prefer the smooth, symmetrical lines achieved with permanent make-up techniques.
People often ask me "What if I want to change the color of my lipstick or the color of my eyeliner after permanent make-up has been applied to those areas?" No problem! Permanent make-up works to improve and enhance your bare, natural face so that you look made up any time of the day or night. However, even after permanent make-up has been applied, you may still choose to add other conventional cosmetics to your face. If so, additional eyeliner or lip color can simply be applied over the permanent make-up in the same or a different color.
What follows is some information which should answer many of your questions concerning the possibilities presented by permanent make-up.
Lip Line and Coloring:
This process can be used to defined your lips or to enlarge your lips to give a more voluptuous look. Also adds color for a healthier complexion. For those who have lost a spot of color on the lips as a result of an accident or illness, the discoloration can be greatly improved with the addition of permanent make-up.

Cheek Color:
This procedure produces a nice complexion for people who tend to have a pale or plain look.
Eyebrows:
As you get older, eyebrow hair tends to cease growing and many women find it time consuming and difficult to apply eyebrow pencil every day. Our technique Can darken your existing eyebrows or can entirely change the shape of your eyebrows to enhance your face. Asymmetrical eyebrows can also be made even with permanent make-up. Best of all, you will no longer spend hours in front of the mirror trying to "draw in" realistic-looking, symmetrical eyebrows, and your eyebrows will look great all day, even after being in the pool or shower.

Eye Liner:
This procedure can be used to create a line or shading to widen or define your eyes. The thickness of the line created, and even the overall "design" of your eyes, is entirely up to you!
Scars:
Do you have a little bald spot on your head or keloid scarring on your areola from breast implants? Are there scars on your legs or stretch marks on your stomach which are too light when compared with the surrounding skin tone? All of these conditions can be corrected or greatly improved with permanent make-up.
How Is Permanent Make-Up Applied?
There are two methods: The ancient oriental hand method and the light-weight gentle machine method. The method used on you will be determined by your skin-care professional based on many factors, including your skin type and the part of your body to which the permanent make-up will be applied. Whichever technique is used, you will feel slight discomfort from the gentle pricking of the skin, since the procedure involves the insertion of pigment just below the surface of the skin. All needles used are disposable and are never used again -- not even on you at your second appointment!
